Etymology of Hurrah

Winds of sylph carry the autumn leaves

Memories cut deep; sharper than Mistilteinn

Dancing in the air, slowly the world tree weaves

A fate by which the gods could have never seen

Demise

Despair

The sunrises

Hot air

Unbearable the heat

Dries the lands

The crops of fields become ash

No rain to replete

Soils become sands

The anger of a distant land

Hiding

Thor walks nine paces

Hissing

His head races

The world serpent had won

The true story known by none

A golden ship in the sky appeared that day

Ornate, decorated in sunlight rays

It sailed all the seas to finally find its prey

The valkyries boarded to sing of life

The true creator had arrived

Old foes, the serpent spoke in ancient tongues screaming the poison of atma

Engulfing the world in black, crushing it and all life under the smoke and its body

The ship sailed through this darkness cutting it

At lightning speed the blinding image of a cat dashed through the poisonous gas

The long eve of deception had finally passed

How ironic.

The world saved

Generations of different songs

Many whom have got it wrong

Fight their wars and battles

Celebrate of names in tattle

Idol gossip

But still somehow, in the light of new days

Under the sun they call out in joy and victory to the one

Saviour not remembered

So they say

Who? Ra!

Short Breath

The way.

The veil of clouded vision

I can’t.

Find the light within, and

I stop.

For just a brazen moment

We stop.

Myself and time itself

Let go.

Take a breath, it will be okay.

I know.

To think we thought it would work out

It won’t.

Not even with a hope of somehow

We go.

Go alone, our separate ways

We live.

The time moves with us until

We die.

Such a short breath, taken away.

This life.

A Savior Siren’s Song

The rampancy of my thoughts

I stop to collect

The message in a bottle

Sent to the sea of your soul, its depths

The latency of it is not

Because I don’t see your beauty yet

The flow of your waves in passion

I follow them in steps

The map to a heart is not so simple

Constantly we correct

And reject

Deliberating the effect

Rain on the ocean only sums to the motion

The ebb going out only comes back to flow in

Spirits rise as the soul returns

From the land it grabs unfirm

In itself it cannot learn of the messages it may yearn for

So, it reaches out into the distance

My glass bones crack as I sink to the ocean floor

Deep into the blue and out of existence

So vast, the lambda of moonlight does not reach this far

Without it my message becomes obscured and mars

The ink melting off my sinking heart

I call your name into the dark

As I wonder where you are

I don’t want to wake on the morning shore no more without you here

I run back into your shallows and yell hoping that you’ll hear

I swim back out to the horizon where the sun will disappear

Inside you again, I hold every bit of you to me near

No fear, I am ready to follow you there

My dear, someday I swear

I’ll be moving on

Carry me back to the shore till the feelings gone

And one day I won’t sleep, in dreams of drowning song

Lost Ship

Targets on the wall are scrawled

Messy without aim

Projectile fall, gravity with stall

I think myself to be lame

Unable if fabled I am certainly no myth

Mindful walk if a shift in lines; we drew adrift

Set the course of our lost ship

Sail the seas but never free trapped in circular paths

Coming back to face the me of you, from the beginning now at-last

The past a future to behold we sailed out steady in search of gold

Faced the waters splash of cold, until we became wreckage of old

Filled the cracks with what we found in all attempts not to drown

Inked the edges of our souls, to contain the content in its holes

Held your hand to steady your pen, in the dying words of a friend

Watched the fire in your eyes challenge me with one more try

Try again and live forever, so many storms we’ve already weathered

The ink of gold held us like tethers, a kraken’s hold which we treasured

In sleepless nights we drew the sky together and all the stars to guide us home

A constellation of you up high forever, you have never left me or this ship alone

We endlessly sail in the endeavor of you

Tears of the Frozen

A Chilling wind passes through my heart

A hole that grew to tear it apart

Held together by finely sewn sinew

Melded forever with memories of you

To keep it frozen so

Deep thoughts of you don’t go

The sun against my face, the skin it stays frigid

The one that blinds me so, my dreams of you stay vivid

We cannot turn back the hands of the clock

N’or erase the thought or stop

One foot forward but this heart chained

One foot toward the same place I remain

Here with you for all eternity

An ice maiden, you are hurting me

No more tears will roll

Frozen in my eyes

Down my cheeks so cold

To the mouth you kissed with lies

An ice maiden turned to iron

The torture where I return

A heart furnace which the fire in

Will never once more burn

Dance of Fate

Walk down the hall with me once more

Apparition in silk white smoke

Eerie halls of the past no longer lit

The stairs creak along this riven floor

A ballroom once filled of folk

Tales of a place now unfit

A Sundered ceiling exposes the crepuscular rays of moonlight

Vines hang from the cracks of moss ladened column heights

Lay your hand to rest in mine

We will walk this imperial staircase one last time

To dance the steps of fate

Innate to us as it was long ago

The songs of time they echo

Ethereal mist in your movement

So fluid to follow

More rhythm and rhyme than the hands of time

There is never enough

A deep breath to stain my lungs forever

This won’t last

Your features grow poignant in these final moments

You hold to me fast

Enveloping body I can’t hold any longer

Do not cry in front of our spectral onlookers

The fairies continue to dance until they fall to dust

A time ago of love and lust comes with an age that seems unjust

All times end, they must

The sun rises in erasure of days past

How fortunate we are to have had one more than our last

Sleeping Party

All the invited show

But I am too nervous to face them

I hideaway in the confines of the only space I know

My head in my pillow

Where I often go

To weep as the willow, I plant myself deep

If I can’t see what I miss

I feign ignorance for bliss

I wait for the clock to countdown till the lot

Clears from my home

In my room alone, I hear the sound of laughter

A happiness for which, the pursuit I am not after

I sometimes raise my head and wonder

If only I could leave this place

Perhaps in another life things could be different

The eventual silence soothes me to sleep

A soundless slumber in faceless dreams

Names I will soon forget

In the end, nothing is different

Fleeting Beauty

Art displayed: Fire by Lisa Sommers

Ephemeral beauty

Fleeting tragedy

Where I found you

In a high magnitude catastrophe

An amber stone born of blazing fire

Steaming water into airborne sapphire

The forest now a burning pyre

The emerald leaves fueled your greed

You had the world stand still enamored

The light of your radiance with insatiable maintenance

You consumed all

Until there was nothing left

The age of fire became ash

Nothing ever lasts

I found you in the remains of a world from long before

But

You do not belong here in the dark
