Bed Head

Before the clouds grow black

They are gray

Before the sun shines, to bask in the moon

With starry eyes and heavy lids

Dreams of what no longer is

Throbbing in my shoulder

Locking of my knee

Weakness in my wrist

All the injuries of my youth

I can feel the rain before it comes

I am sad before I sleep

I sleep as heavy as the downpour

Calmly when it’s light

Where I am happy in my imagination—

But what of a rainy week?

Where I live in my head

So many hours spent asleep

Living like the dead

To be Wanted

It was a long time ago…

Somewhere scattered

In artifacts of memories and the shrapnel of delicate hearts

Exploding into glass panes of deep red and the black veins that create the image

Now separated and indistinguishable, it’s just red thorns with no bloom

Empty space with no room

Red passion to dark gloom

Strings cut from the loom

So it is safe to assume

A heart that would thump with a boom

Became a melody with no tune

And no bars

No place, with no light, a night sky without stars

A distance without — how far?

That’s how far we grew apart

Loves me Not (part 2)

Why was it that as my life grew happier, fuller, fulfilled and answered for

That I thought to question about you

Inquiries of a random passing by conversation

Of no relation to my bountiful inundation

Made me want to swim back to the surface

A breath of fresh air that once seemed worthless

Became a wind that could carry your words

So few and so precious

As ash that was once flesh is

Loves Me Not (part 1)

Unsullied and unbiased

Folly for eyes so often in the ground

Meeting their earthy gaze and sparkle

Plant seeds in my mind

Flowering the long stems of your eyelashes

Batting like you might fly away

The small mole, a black hole

Hiding right beneath your chin

I could swear sometimes you have words to say that

Are simply sucked in and, swallowed before they can ever leave your mouth

The way I catch you, quickly looking away makes me grin

You smiling makes me smile

And I don’t even know why

The Last Hope

A forest fire rages from the cackling laugh of embers

So hot that even aluminum shrinks into flattened bark

Ashes litter the ground, soot in the air

And the smell of life caught in a chaos

Sickening and fading

Echoes unheard through the roaring of the flames

Screaming to save the last seed

So that one day in what will be barren

Will come the first tree

And all the hope we will ever need

Take Out

Can I have the moon to go?

Dimly lit chamber holds the soul

Empty appetite leaves one whole

Gaze into the stars

With less luster than her eyes

Admire from afar

Feel further than the sky is

A smile is

Sweet temperament

Bitter torment

Curt silence

Cute demeanor

A seance

A ghost, to have seen her

More seasoned memories

That make me a believer

In wishing on fallen stars

Sushi!

One night, just turned summer

Spring glimmer

Flowers germinate

One sight, one to another

Words simmer

As pupils dilate

Hungry and forlorn

Distant but never lost

Veering off to empty spaces

I often fill with you

At least the image

Mysterious and unfinished

Smile just slightly blemished

Blush in which I relished

Laughs incite a heart attack

A smile Is only pain

Just a half grin from you

Is a rhythm no longer sane

A raw meal of fish swim soulfully

As still and unhindered, shyly and woefully

Your lips run through my mind

Each time they close and mine

How delicious is this sushi!?

Anguish

Say that you love me, don’t

Follow me but you won’t

Hold me but let go

Console me but never know

Tranquil but not at peace

Thunderous anger as silent tears

Words like the softest fleece

In calm whisper my greatest fears

Anguish

Wrenched, wretched, woe

Slow, nowhere to go

Run, no place to hide

Alive, but not inside

A love for you that died

Rope

Sickly draw in

The prey

My noose is well fitted

Elegant and luxurious

So tempting

Tantalizing

I sell it like it glitters

A necklace

Can I interest you in a dance, my love

I like

The way you stray further as you chase after

Search the heart, pull the reins

Tighten the strings, echoes of pains

Writhing, saying, not all that glitters is gold

Sheens of silver lining turn crimson to write that,

at least the lord will judge me
